The morning view

More AI work can happen inside existing conversations and cloud accounts. The practical boundaries sit in administrator settings, spending controls and which records each service retains.

1. Claude brings unified chat and Cowork to Enterprise

Development:

Anthropic made its unified chat and Cowork experience generally available to Enterprise customers on October 23. A conversation can move from answering questions to working with files or code in an Anthropic-managed cloud session, continuing across devices. Billing remains usage-based; agentic tasks can consume more tokens than quick chats. Usage reports gain a unified category.

Eligible organizations can enable it now. Automatic enablement on November 16 requires Chat and cloud code execution/file creation to be enabled; explicit choices to keep it off are preserved. Organizations using zero data retention, the HIPAA-ready configuration or customer-managed encryption keys remain excluded.

Our read: Has teeth. Removing the separate mode choice is a concrete workflow change, with eligibility still determined by organizational controls.

2. Claude adds an Anthropic-managed route through Google Cloud

Development:

Anthropic’s separately operated Claude service became generally available through Google Cloud on October 22. Customers can use Google Cloud identity permissions and billing while accessing code execution, web search and prompt caching. Usage can count toward cloud spending commitments. The documentation supports global routing with an option for US-only inference.

Setup requires a Marketplace subscription and a new Anthropic organization; existing workspaces and stored resources do not automatically transfer. Anthropic is the data processor. Restricted betas still require access, MCP tunnels for tool connections are unsupported, and existing discounts must be arranged before usage because they cannot be applied retroactively.

Our read: Has teeth. Existing cloud permissions and spending commitments make this a concrete procurement option, despite documented feature exclusions.

3. Gemini can manage notebooks from the conversation

Development:

Google made Gemini Notebook available as a connected app inside Gemini on October 23. Users can create, edit or delete notebooks, change their sources and ask questions against notebook content without leaving the chat. Typing @Gemini Notebook invokes it explicitly; Gemini can also select it for relevant prompts.

Google lists availability for Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts. Organizations must enable both Gemini and Gemini Notebook for the affected users. The connection defaults to on globally except in the European Economic Area, where it starts off and can be managed in Connected Apps settings.

Our read: Has teeth. Notebook creation and source maintenance become conversational actions, extending the integration beyond answering questions.

4. Figma adds defaults for Enterprise AI spending

Development:

Figma announced Enterprise controls on October 22 that let administrators set default paid AI-credit access across an organization or billing group, with rollout over the following days. The release also adds management through SCIM, the standard used by identity providers to provision accounts. Defaults cover new and existing users without custom settings.

The limits govern purchased credits, leaving credits included with a seat unchanged. Individual custom settings override group defaults, which override the organization default. A per-user limit reserves no credits: reaching it, or exhausting the group or plan pool, stops that person’s paid-credit use.

Our read: Has teeth. Enterprise administrators gain a repeatable spending policy without configuring every person individually.

5. Vault exports Gemini conversations from Workspace apps

Development:

Google Vault added filtered exports for Gemini in Workspace on October 22. Administrators can select users or organizational units of up to 5,000 people and a date range, then export JSON containing prompts, responses, generated attachments and references. Only conversations created with history enabled are covered.

The interface is available now to eligible Vault customers, including Business Plus and Enterprise Standard/Plus; API support is promised within 14 days of the interface rollout. Retention rules and litigation holds for this Workspace conversation source remain future features. These exports should therefore not be mistaken for a complete preservation system.

Our read: Has teeth. The release provides a concrete route to collect AI conversations, with history settings and pending preservation controls defining its reach.
